Capt Wright in England in July 1944 at 3CIRVHU. Captain Wright, a member of the 48th Highlanders, had led a company of the 48th Highlanders 1st Bn through Sicily and Southern Italy. In late 1943 he was returned to England as part of Operation Pouch which sent battle experienced officers and Senior NCOs to England to take their experience to the battalions preparing for the D-Day landings in June 44. His promotion to Major that had been submitted by the 48th Highlander was confirmed in England. Major Wright joined the North Nova Scotia Highlanders in France and was awarded the DSO for his gallant leadership of his company in France.
