Black Paper Pocket Labeled “PAST” – Pte. Harold C. McKay

Black paper pocket made from folded construction paper and stapled on the sides, with a small piece of paper taped to the front and the word “PAST” written on it with pen, containing 5 photos and 5 postcards. The photographs are sepia and black and white and of different scenery: 1 of the photos shows Pte. Harold C. McKay in military dress with 2 other individuals on a street, 2 of the photos show Pte. Harold C. McKay in casual dress with others, the last 2 photos show women and do not have Pte. Harold C. McKay in them. The 5 postcards all feature images of the Niagara Falls region and are captioned: 1. colourized photo of the “OAKES GARDEN THEATRE, LOOKING NORTH, NIAGARA FALLS, CANADA” and numbered in the bottom left “N.F.17” , 2. colourized photo of the “GENERAL VIEW OF FALLS AND GARDENS, NIAGARA FALLS, ONT.” and numbered in the bottom left “(314)”, 3. a black and white photo of “Oakes Garden Theatre and General View, Niagara Falls”, 4. a colour image of “AMERICAN FALLS OF NIAGARA AND MAID OF THE MIST FROM DOCK” and numbered at the top “S-7” with a crest of Canada in the top right of the image, 5. a colour image of “AMERICAN FALLS OF NIAGARA FROM CANADA (ILLUMINATED BY 1.300.000.000 CANDLE POWER)” and numbered at the top “S-23” with a crest of Canada in the top left of the image. To note, for the postcards of the Oakes Garden Theatre, based on the models of the cars and the featuring of the Clifton Arch which only stood from 1938-1968, the images are most likely from the late 1930’s to the late 1940’s.
