RQMS (WO2) William Benjamin (Bill) Turner, CD

RQMS Turner was stationed in England throughout the war.  His son believes he was a Bren gun carrier driver instructor.

He reenlisted in the 48th on May 4, 1956.  His service record indicates his participation in annual camps. He was promoted Lamce Corporal June 14, 1957, Sargeant Aug 31, 1959, A Sgt May 31, 1963, WO2 May 21, 1964.  He was CSM of Admin Company until his appointment to RQMS Nov 1, 1965 until his release in 1968.  As a Sgt, he was in transport and was the driver examiner.  He went on to 709 Comms at the request of RSM Elms to be their RQMS.  He ultimately retired again in the early 1970’s.

He came back to the 48th and replaced Harry Wignall as the RQMS for Regimental stores, a position he held until his death in 1986.

He held various Mess appointments and was a life member of the Sargeants mess.

He was married to Gerry Turner who was a life long member of the IODE.

This is my grandfather. He also served in WW1 under service number 800232
