Pte. Mathieson, Donald James

Pte Matheson enlisted on 19 Sept 1939 with the Perth Regiment (MG) and was given the service number A11266. Overseas he joined the 1st Battalion 48th Highlanders and was assigned to D Company. He listed his religion as Church of England and was 26 years old on enlistment. Mathieson was an accomplished artist and the museum has two of his watercolours (Cemetery Hill and the Hitler Line) and a dozen pencil drawings (caricature and semi realistic) of events and Highlanders during the Italian campaign.
