Hat, Stetson, South African War, Canadian Scouts

South African War era Stetson hat belonging to Sergeant Odlum, who served in South Africa with the Canadian Scouts (1902).

The object consists of the hat, external hat bands (one thick and one very thin) mounted where the crown meets the brim, a hat band buckle, and a  Victorian general list Canada cap badge (that is, not specific to a particular regiment or corps).

There is no chin strap or internal sweatband present with the hat.

Note, this object was first accessioned with the number: 999.4.1, which is still visible inside the crown.
