Col. G. M. Malone, MC, ED – Kukri and Scabbard

A gray metal, likely steel, Nepalese kukri blade stored in a black hard leather scabbard, with both being curved near the middle, and belonged to Colonel Gerald Morphy Malone, MC, ED. The grip of the kukri is solid smooth wood with a horizontal pattern of lines that mimic cloth wrapping and a metal butt cap at the base of the handle grip. The scabbard is hard leather and has a bronze pointed cap on the end and a bronze band at the top around the throat. There are two small scabbards in a medium sized scabbard, or pouch, bound to the main scabbard by a horizontal black leather band laced together on the backside with two loop straps also attached vertically, and all together are near the top of the scabbard. Two mini knives sit in each of the small scabbard next to the handle of the kukri with wooden handles, one is a utility knife called a karda, and the other is a sharpening tool for the kukri called a chakmak.
