First issued to the Regiment while training on the CNE ground in 1939 before going overseas. Battle Dress consisted of a Blouse type Jacket and pants. Highlanders would no longer wear the kilt in battle. Officers were issued the same pattern uniform as other ranks, although they continued to wear a shirt and tie. Once again, Canadian soldiers wore the distinctive badges of the First World War on the uniform. During the Sicily Invasion and during the summer months of the Italian Campaign, the 48th wore the British Desert Uniform. Following the war, Battle dress continued to be worn by Canadian Soldiers until 1970. For the summer months, a new uniform Bush clothing or Field Service Olive Green was adopted in 1952.
