Pte TROTTIER, Alexander (Drafted)

3234749 Pte Trottier, Alexander attested on 15 May 1918 with No. 2 Depot Battalion, 1st COR. In England he was assigned to the 12 Reserve Battalion and then transferred to France to join the 15th Battalion, 48th Highlanders arriving at the battalion on 17 October 1918.  His date of birth was 16 September 1895 in Aylmer, Ontario. He gave his religion as Roman Catholic.

He left the 15th Battalion on 16 November 1918 to return home to Canada where he was discharged on 20 March 1919.

His time with the battalion started after the battle at Canal du Nord when the battalion had been drawn back into reserve. The actions that followed were advances against a retreating, and occasionally fighting, enemy. The battalion, back in the front in late October advanced through Etaing, L’Ecluse and Tortequenne and then moved out of the line again to billets in Rocourt. The advance began again and by the 20th the battalion was near Wallers Woods facing a German rear-guard action. The last action occurred in the next days and then the battalion essentially went out of action at the end of October until the Armistice was declared on 11 November.
