Pte STONE, Otis Freeman

464368 Private Otis Freeman Stone was a 35 year mechanical engineer originally from South Prairie, Washington with pre-war service in the Militia with the 6th Regiment when he attested into the 62nd Battalion at Vernon, BC in September 1915. He was assigned to the 7th Battalion as a reinforcement but instead was sent to the 15th Battalion arriving in April 1916 during the battalion’s trench tours in the Hill 60 area. There are no details in his service file but Private Stone was killed in action in front of Hill 60 on June 24, 1916 and he is buried in Railway Dugouts Cemetery.
