Pte ROSS, Eldie Burton

Private Eldie Burton Ross was a 20 year old stock clerk from Toronto when he attested into the 134th Battalion in January 1916. He arrived as a reinforcement to the 15th Battalion In November of that same year and was posted to No. 3 Company. He took part in operations at Vimy, Hill 70 and Passchendaele in 1917 as well as being attached to the 3rd Australian Tunnelling Company in February- March 1918.

Privates Ross and 204897 Private William Summers were both killed in action at 10 PM on April 5, 1918 by a German 5.9 high explosive artillery shell that hit their platoon as it was leaving the Arras Caves heading for the Support Lines.
