Pte PINCH, Arthur Wiley

46182 Private Arthur Wiley Pinch was a 21 year old carpenter from Wolfville NS when he attested into the 17th Battalion (Nova Scotia) on September 26, 1914 in Valcartier, QC. He was transferred to the 15th Battalion to help bring it up to full establishment just prior to embarkation to France In February 1915. He was assigned to the 15th’s Base Company which was left behind at Tidworth Barracks, Wiltshire as part of the unit’s reserve pool.

Private Pinch contracted spinal meningitis and was hospitalized at Gilroes Isolation Hospital, Leicester where he died of phthisis on June 7th. He is buried at Leicester (Welford Road) Cemetery and his name appears on its Memorial Wall.
