Pte MUCKLER, FRANK Albert

742486 Private Frank Albert Muckler was a 26 year old engineer  from Grand Falls NB with pre-war service in the 3rd CFA and the 62nd Regiment of the Militia when he attested  into the 115th Battalion in St John NB on December 30, 1915. In the UK he was transferred to the 5th Reserve Battalion and from there sent in a reinforcement draft to the 15th Battalion in April 1917. He arrived on April 22 while the Battalion was still in the Vimy sector and was assigned to No. 4 Company which was back in the area around Nine Elms. He served at Hill 70 in August 1917 and was attached to the 3rd Australian Tunnelling Company in February-March 1918.

Back with the battalion he was gassed on March 20th and then sent to the UK for medical treatment at a number of medical facilities. Suffering from pleurisy he remained in the Labour Pool in the UK until being repatriated to Canada in April 1919 and discharged. The details of his death are unknown but Private Muckler died of his ‘service related’ injury on May 26, 1919. He is buried in St. John RC Cemetery.
