Pte McPHERSON, Alexander

1045290 Private Alexander McPherson was a 37 year slater originally Linlithgow, Scotland with pre-war service in the 2nd Dragoons and living in Detroit, Michigan when he attested into the 241st Battalion (Canadian Scottish Borderers) in Windsor, Ontario on September 5, 1916. Based in Windsor, the 241st Battalion recruited in Essex County and due to the proximity to the USA, it had many Americans in its ranks . After sailing to England in May 1917, the battalion was absorbed into the 5th and 12th Reserve Battalions in June, 1917. Private McPherson arrived at the 15th Battalion as a reinforcement in September 1917 but shortly thereafter was evacuated ill to No.10 General Hospital in Rouen where he died of pneumonia on May 11, 1918. He is buried in St. Sever Communal Cemetery Extension (Rouen)
