Pte McLEAN, Robert

464411 Private Robert McLean was a 30 year old policeman originally from Donegal, Ireland when he attested into the 62nd Battalion in September 1915 at Vernon, BC.   He was initially sent to the 7th Battalion as a reinforcement but ended up being sent to No. 4 Company of the 15th Battalion in Belgium on June 14, 1916.

He was KIA by shrapnel to his upper body on June 27, 1916 while the battalion was subjected to heavy artillery and mortar fire in the line near Hill 60, Belgium. He is buried in Railway Dugouts Cemetery.
