Pte MARTIN, Robert Stanley

47375 Private Robert Stanley Martin was a 39 year old laborer originally from Devonport, England with pre-war service in the West Kent Regiment when he attested into the 17th Battalion (Nova Scotia) in Valcartier in September 1914. He was transferred to the 15th Battalion in the UK prior to the unit embarking for France in February 1915. Private Martin was serving in No. 3 Company which was heavily gassed at 2nd Ypres on 24 April and evacuated to No. 13 General Hospital in Boulogne where he died of gas poisoning on May 4th. He is buried in Boulogne Eastern Cemetery.
