Pte LIVESEY, George

192548 Private George Livesey was a 23 year machinist from Oshawa, Ontario when he attested into the 92nd Battalion in Toronto in August 1915. The 92nd Battalion was quickly broken up in the UK to send reinforcements to units already at the Front, and Private Livesey was sent initially to the 43rd Reserve battalion then to the 17th Reserve Battalion before arriving at the 15th Battalion in Belgium in March 1916 when it was in the line near Hill 60. He was serving in No. 2 Company when on April 29th he was wounded in the back and head by a rifle grenade. He was evacuated to No. 17 Casualty Clearing Station at Hazebrouck where he died of his wounds on May 6th. Private Livesey is buried in Lijssenthoek Military Cemetery near Poperinghe and he is also commemorated on the Cenotaph in Oshawa.
