Pte. Keech, James Nelson

B73596 James Nelson (Nelville) Keech enlisted in the 48th Highlanders (home battalion) on 8 May 1939 and was assigned to Headquarters company. He was discharged on 4 September, 1939 just after war was declared. This was to enable him to reenlist with the 1st Battalion, 48th Highlanders who were part of the Canadian contingent that went overseas. After training in Ontario the records show: “S.O.S. Canadian Army (Canada) on embarkation at Halifax 12 May 40, and were T.O.S. Canadian Army (Overseas) on 13 May 40, disembarked at Liverpool 22 May 40.”

Keech was reported as wounded in action (unconfirmed)
