Pte HUDDLESTONE, Percy John

193438 Private Percy John Huddlestone was 32 year old cook originally from London, England when he attested into the 92nd Battalion in August 1915 at Hamilton, Ontario In the UK he was transferred to the 5th Reserve Battalion at East Sandling camp in January 1917 and from there sent as a reinforcement to the 15th Battalion in the field following Vimy in April. He served in No. 1 Company during the trench tours at Arleux, Mericourt and Loos from late April to Early July. The battalion was out-of-the-line in early July but supplied working parties to the front lines. On July 7th while on a working party in the Telegraph Hill sector near Neuville Vitasse, Private Huddlestone was wounded by shrapnel in the head and legs. He was evacuated to England where died of his wounds on July 23rd at Moore Barracks Hospital, Bournemouth. Private Huddlestone is buried in Bournemouth East Cemetery, UK
