PTE. FOKES, Edward A.

Edward Fokes joined the 48th Highlanders militia battalion on 08 October 1934. When war was declared in September 1939 Fokes, and large numbers of Highlanders, enlisted in the 1st Battalion for service overseas. Fokes went with the battalion on the SS Reina del Pacifico in December, and remained with the regiment in England, France, Sicily and Italy until wounded on 6 October 1944 following the battle to take Rimini on the Adriatic coast of Italy.
