Pte DEAN, George Kay

228516 Pte Dean, George Kay enlisted in Toronto on 21 June 1916 and was assigned to the 201st Battalion as a drummer. Dean was transferred to the 110th battalion on 30 Sept 1916 and sailed from Halifax on the SS Lapland on 25 October. In England he was assigned to the 169th Bn on 08 December and transferred to the 5th Canadian Reserve Battalion on 28 January 1917. He joined the 15th Battalion, 48th Highlanders on 3 May 1917. While with the 15th he was wounded twice, first a shrapnel wound to the left knee on 30 June 1917, remaining on duty with the battalion, then in August wounded in both the left arm and left leg by gunshot. He was transferred to hospital on the 17th.
