Pte Rupert Murry Cameron - likely taken in England in 1942 or 43.

Pte Cameron, Rupert Murry – 1st Bn

B91567 Pte Cameron, R M – TOS from 48th Highrs X-4 list (4 Bn) eff 25 Jan 44

Pte Cameron sailed from England where he was on the 48th Highlanders’  reserve list of soldiers who would be called to Italy to fill vacancies. He arrived at the battalion on 25 January 44 while they were in a static position after the battles towards Ortona and the outflanking of the town by the 48th. The battalion was conducting fighting patrols and defensive actions at the Arielli River until the spring.

Records do not show him leaving Italy with the battalion  in March 1945, suggesting he left the battalion in Italy. His service number is one allocated to the Royal Canadian Army Medical Corp at #2 Depot in North Bay where he enlisted. (More research required)
