Pte Arbour, WILLIAM

Despite taking the objectives, and after two other battalions of the brigade had been repulsed by the Germans, the higher command withdrew the 48th, not convinced of the outcome. A couple of days later the town was taken following a massive artillery barrage, a lesson not missed by the higher command at Brigade and Division.
