Died during the second day of the successful breaching of the Hitler Line, south of Pontecorvo, Italy, by the 48th Highlanders unassisted. Day 2 saw the battalion expanding the beachhead inside the Hitler Line to permit the rest of the Brigade to pass through and complete the full penetration of the defensive position.

NOK: Son of Alcide and Marie Flore Ducharme, of Welland, Ontario, Canada.
