George Mcdonald Johnston was with the 48th Highlanders from 06 April 1931 to 03 April 1935. He was with the Pipe Band. Johnston attested for WWII and his attestation papers record that he was also with the 48th Highlanders of Canada CASF Depot from 1934 to 1935. Johnston became a Lieutenant with the 29th Armd Reconnaissance Regiment of the South Alberta Regiment. He was killed in action on 02 April 1945 at the age of 27 and is buried in the Holten Cemetery in The Netherlands.
His regimental number was B-74496.
