Lt. Douglas Barrett Scott – 1st Bn

Lt Scott joined up with the 1st Battalion, 48th Highlanders just after the battles north of Rimini when the battalion had been chasing the Germans through the mud of Lombardy and was at rest at Miramar. The date is 20 October 1944. He was assigned as a Platoon Commander in Baker Company.

He is then mentioned in our regimental history Dileas in an action on 27 December between the Lamone and Senio Rivers. The last mention is during Operation Cannonshot, the liberation of Apeldoorn in The Netherlands. This date is 12 April 1945, and the action described is in the first day of the operation.   Lt Scott was a platoon commander in Baker Company for the entire period from Oct 44 to the end of the war.

He does not appear on the Sailing list of the 1st Battalion from NW Europe on 4 September to England on 5 September so he may have either left on a different day, or elected to stay with another unit while the allies took control of Germany. He was born on 7 December 1912 in Prince Rupert, BC.
