LCol John Howland Chipman, MC (MID) VD

First 92nd Battalion Draft –  15th Battalion, 48th Highlanders of Canada

Lieutenant Colonel John Howard Chipman was born in St Stephen, New Brunswick in 1895.

At the age of 12, he was a bugler in the 71st York Regiment which was under the command of his father.

LCol John Howland Chipman was President of Brown Brothers Stationers Ltd and a grandson of Sir Leonard Tilley – one of the fathers of Confederation.

He died on June 16 1957 and is buried in Mount Pleasant Cemetery.
