Major LM Crawford-Brown

2nd in Command 1st Battalion 48th Highlanders of Canada CASF

Lyman Crawford-Brown joined the 48th Highlanders in 1929. He was the son of Honorary Major T Crawford Brown who served as the Regimental Chaplain from 1907 until his death in 1929. When 1st Battalion, 48th Highlanders CASF left the CNE Horse Palace in December 1939 he was serving as 2IC D Company.  In May 1943 when the Battalion moved to Auchinleck in preparation for the move to the Mediterranean Major Crawford-Brown became Battalion 2IC.  He served as 2IC until the end of the Sicilian campaign.  He then left to return to other duties in England leaving Capt Eardley Wright the only original 1st Battalion officer left serving with the fighting battalion.
