28083 Private Robert Church Robson was a 27 year old gardener originally from Sussex, England with pre-war service in the 2nd Dragoons of the Canadian Militia when he attested into the 15th Battalion at Valcartier in September 1914. He was serving in No. 4 Company at 2nd Ypres in April 1915 when he suffered a GSW to the right thigh and was reported as Missing in Action. He was found in a Casualty Clearing Station after the battle and evacuated for medical treatment.
Private Robson rejoined the battalion in time for Festubert in May and was promoted to Lance Corporal in September. He served during the 1915-1916 fall-winter-spring tour in the Ploegsteert-Hill 60 sector and in January 1916 at his own request he reverted to the rank of Private before serving on the Somme in the Fall of 1916. He was transferred to the Battalion Transport Section in January 1917 and served at Vimy in April and Hill 70 in August. In May 1918 during the German Michael Offensive, the battalion was in defensive positions near Vimy when Private Robson was evacuated ill to 11 Canadian Field Ambulance. He was transferred to No. 42 Casualty Clearing Station where he died of septicemia on May 15, 1918. Private Robson is buried in Aubigny Communal Cemetery.
