During raid on the enemy trenches in the Colonne Section on March 2nd 1917, tis NCO commanded the mopping party.  After bombing four occupied enemy dugouts and his supply of bombs was exhausted he returned alone to our lines and getting a fresh supply, again returned to the enemy lines and continued to bomb three more enemy dugouts. He was the last man of the raiding party to leave the enemy trench, and his gallant conduct throughout the action was  such distinguished.
