Cpl KEDDELL, Frank Hewes

77526 Private Frank H. Keddell was a 23 year old electrician originally from London, England when he attested into the 30th Battalion (British Columbia) on November 9, 1914 in Victoria, BC. He was part of the large reinforcement draft from the 30th Battalion to help rebuild the 15th Battalion following 2nd Ypres in April 1915. Private Keddell was assigned to No. 4 Company and fought at Festubert in May 1915. On June 5th the 15th Battalion relieved the 8th Battalion in support at Moated Farm the scene of much bitter fighting near Givenchy and prepared to move forward to the front line for an assault against The Duck’s Bill. Although the assault was called-off, the battalion suffered several casualties one of who was Private Keddell. He was buried ‘in the field’ at a Dressing Station near Cuinchy which is today Woburn Abbey Cemetery.
