Captain William Proudfoot

Capt William Proudfoot came to the 15th Battalion (48th Highlanders) having served in the 33rd Battalion.  He joined the 15th Battalion in June 1916.  At Vimy while serving as the Battalion Intelligence Office he was twice wounded but carried on with his job of keeping Headquarters up to date on the advancing attack.

04-11:  Evacuated to England aboard HS Princess Elizabeth & attached to 1st CORD for administration while         convalescing.  Admitted to Reading War Hospital.

05-14:  Discharged from hospital & granted sick furlough to 06-04,  later extended to 06-18

06-05:  Now attached to 5th Res Bn, Bramshott

06-20:  Reported to 5th Res Bn from leave

08-07:  Ceased to be attached to 5th Res Bn & proceeded to France

08-13:  Rejoined 15th Bn at Les Brebis, (WDR, in group photo taken 08-12)

08-16:  SW, right arm at Hill 70, Lens, (WDR).  Evacuated to 2nd Fd  Amb, then to 18th CCS.  Attached to 1st CBD

08-17:  Admitted to Duchess of Westminster GH, Le Touquet.  Circa this date recommended to MC for actions at Hill 70

09-02:  Discharged to CCRC, Etaples

09-30:  Award of MC announced in Bn DO’s

10-14:  Rejoined 15th Bn at Ohlain-Fresnicourt

10-18:  Awarded MC, ref LG 30340

12-09:  Granted leave to England.  Reported sick at Folkestone &  admitted to West Cliff Eye & Ear Hospital, Folkestone.   Diagnosed with Adenitis
