A/Cpl MUNRO, Hugh Gordon

Pte Munro joined the 15th Battalion, 48th Highlanders from the 37th Battalion on 17 July 1915 and was assigned to the Grenade Company. He was promoted Acting L/Cpl on 30 May 1916 and Acting Cpl on 3 June 1916. He was injured on 8 August 1916 as the battalion moved back out of the lines to the village of Nordleulinghem for 15 days of training. He returned to the battalion from hospital four days later.

Cpl Munro was killed in action 9 October 1916 at The Somme, while relieving the 58th Battalion near the Sugar Refinery and behind Courcelette.
