799066 Pte Grant, Aubrey Lloyd, 134th Battalion

799066 Grant, Aubrey Lloyd enlisted with the 134th Battalion (48th Highlanders) in Toronto on 12 January 1916. His was born 03 June 1896. He travelled overseas on SS Scotian and remained with the 134th in England until 06 June 1917. The 134th had been designated as a fighting unit for a proposed fifth Canadian Division. They trained in England awaiting the creation of the new Division. Grant left the 134th on 23 April 1917 to be transferred to the 19th Battalion, Canadian Infantry. (The 134th remained training until 12 Feb 1918 when the Army decided it did not need a fifth Division. The 134th were demobilized and the soldiers sent to various units.)

Pte Grant arrived at the 19th Battalion on 12 Jun 1917 and remained with them until 07 April 1919. He was released from the army on 29 October 1919. While with the 19th he had a bout of mumps, beginning 15 Feb 1918, which kept him out of any subsequent battles in which the 19th was active.
