Tunic and Riding Pants (South African Constabulary)

This Canadian pattern khaki field service tunic was worn with a bandolier and haversack.

Canada sent 7,368 soldiers to South Africa. At least 116 members of the 48th Highlanders volunteered, 67 serving in South Africa, others in support in Halifax. In 1933, the 48th Highlanders were granted the battle honour “South Africa 1899-1900”, recognizing the Highlanders who served in the Toronto Company of the 2nd RCRI.
