Rope Tension drum manufactured by George Potter & Co. Ltd. In the mid 1960s the Pipes and Drums received its final set of rope tension drums. This final set was emblazoned with the battle Honours of the 48th Highlanders earned in South Africa and both World Wars.
This third set of snare drums introduced snares below the batter head (top skin). A throw off lever was provided to allow the drummer to disengage this set of snares when not needed. Also on the drum is a Royal Coat of Arms and staff Sgt’s stripes were added on the snare hood with the Regimental service number # B456894 ?
