Sgian-dubh knife w/ scabbard, Cairngorm jewelled -d’Esterre

Sgian-dubh knife in black scabbard with Silver  edging, Cairngorm jewelled in topaz colour, on top of hilt. Belonged to Col. JCD d’Esterre.

A small traditional knife worn tucked into the hose (sock) with the handle visible above the right sock. Traditionally carried for utility and as part of Highland dress. Sometimes called the black knife because of the dark handle or the tradition of hidden weapons.
