NOTE by Capt. Kim Beattie, Historian: In the Battle of Hill 70 (two days after this photograph was taken), Lieuts. Haldane, MacDonald, Reeves and Wylie were killed. Major Mavor; Capts. Price, Mackenzie and McLaughlin; and Lieuts. (Gordon) Chisholm, Creighton, Graham, McGee, Proudfoot and Tait were wounded. Major Girvan and Lieuts. (Brock) Chisholm and Bill Proudfoot were awarded the Military Cross; 3 D. C. Ms. and 19 M. Ms. were al so awarded. Total casualties (corrected): 63 killed and 155 wounded (218).
