Shell Caps

Various Shell caps picked up by Duncan McArthur of the 92nd Battalion presented to his son B. McArthur of B Company (48th Highlanders) 1 CHB 27th Brg.
48th Cap Badge Spat Button Hook

A 5.5 inch (13.97 cm) 48th cap badge button hook, most often used to help the soldier to button his spats. Many items such as this were created by the troops while in the trenches to pass the time and focus them away from the war.
48th Wooden Shield

A 4 inch (10.16 cm) by 6 inch (15.24 cm) carved wooden shield with the 48th emblem carved on the front. Made by H. Werts of the 15th Battalion in Brillirl, France in 1916. Presented by Major G.B. Chisholm.
Shell Case Vases
