Wooden Mandolin with 8 strings. Body is tear shaped with an oval whole and flat sloped bridge. Wood, metal, shell and ivory (?). Inscribed onside of body: In the line you did your bit, 1915-19, Somme, Arras, Vimy, Messines, Ypres, Plugstreet, Passchendaele, Cambrai, Amiens, Albert, Mons, Rhine, Hill 60, 740., Loos. Carried throughout the war by 47895 Pte Charles Wood.
