Lt John Gordon Mayne – 1st Battalion

KIA 16 May 1944 – B Company – just prior to advance to Pontecorvo up the Liri Valley. Mayne had received, just that morning, a letter that he had a new daughter in Farnborough, born on 22 April.
Mayne joined as an exchange officer on the Arielli River in Italy in January 1944.
