Letter from D.M. Robertson, Rec. Secretary, protem

Toronto, June 9th, 1891

Dear Sir,

You are respectfully requested to attend a meeting of Scotchmen, to be held in the Queen’s Hotel, on Friday evening, 10th inst., to promote the interests of the Scottish Regiment now in process of organization in this city.

The principal matter for discussion at the meeting will be to arrange for a deputation to wait on the Dominion Government, and other matters.

More than the full complement of men (6 companies, 252 men) have been enrolled, and they have unanimously chosen Mr. John I. Davidson as their Colonel. The Military authorities, as far as consulted, are favorable to the scheme, but the co-operation of the Scottish Community is necessary to the successful issue of the project.
