LCol George received the MID while commanding Bravo Company  in The Netherlands during the advance to liberate Apeldoorn in April. Upon return to Canada he rejoined the home battalion and became the Commanding Officer 1949 – 1952 and Honorary Lieutenant Colonel 1977 – 1978.
