Inspection by Gen McNaughton Shaking Officers hand – 1 November 1939

2 Lt. Cols of 48th Highlanders,  one shaking hands with General McNaughton, on the grounds of University Avenue Armouries.  To the left is LCol Chipman during inspection of 1 Bn, 48th Highlanders 1 November 1939. [P1350] The 1st Battalion trained at the CNE grounds with barracks in the Horse Palace. They departed from Toronto on 17 December 1939, sailed as part of the convoy carrying the First Canadian contingent, arriving in the UK on 31 December.

LCol Chipman was the Commanding Officer of the Home battalion.
