Female member of the 48th Highlanders of Canada training with the 4 Bn, Royal Regiment of Scotland. Training was joined while she was studying Physics at University of Aberdeen. The Royal Regiment of Scotland was created by amalgamating the Highland regiments in Scotland into one unit. The Gordon Highlanders, with whom in May 1904, the 48th Highlanders had the first formal alliance between a UK regiment and a unit in the Commonwealth, was one of the regiments amalgamated but retaining their distinctive uniforms and Gordon name within the RR of S. Small unit training between the RR of S and the 48th Highlanders has continued.
