Charles Timothy William Hewlett – Memorial Plaque

Memorial Plaque: large circular disk with figure of Britannia, lion and dolphins; Has manufacture’s stamp on the reverse, W; Lot number between the lions rear leg and tail, 23.

The Memorial Plaque is sent to the widow, mother or designated next of kin when a soldier is killed in action. Each plaque is unique having the soldier’s name on the front in a raised rectangle. The plaque would be accompanied by a Silver Cross and a Letter of Condolence from the King.
