On 8 September 2023 the Change of Command for 32 Canadian Brigade Group was held at Fort York National Historic Site in Toronto. The outgoing Commanding Officer, Col J. M. C. McEwen, CD handed command to Col A. R. Best, CD in the presence of Brigadier-General J. J. Major, MSM, CD.

Of note, both Colonels had commanded the 48th Highlanders of Canada as LCol and Col McEwen handed command of the regiment to Col Best, marking a unique command handover between the two 48th Highlanders at both Battalion and Brigade levels for the first time.
