1927 – Canadian Guard of Honour Reception at White House – 12 Nov

A 9.75 inch (24.77 cm) by 40.5 inch (ca. 103 cm) black and white photo of the Canadian Guard of Honour Reception held on the back lawn of the White House with President Calvin Coolidge. The event on 12 November 1927 was to thank and recognize those Americans who joined the Canadian forces in WWI in the years before the USA joined the war. Behind President Coolidge, in in Scarlet Full Dress is the 48th Highlanders Director of Music and to the rear on the left of the photo is the Pipes and Drums on the 48th Highlanders. Some have noted, perhaps apocryphally, that this was the first time a red-coated soldier was at the White House since the War of 1812.
