Two days after the Armistice was signed on 11 November 1918 the 15th Battalion (48th Highlanders) marched into Germany. From 13 November to 16 December they marched: through France, then Belgium, across the German border, finally stopping at Ehreshoven on the 16th to hold the Cologne bridgehead.
