Base Drum: wooden shell 13 lug ( brass) professional paint job no record of maker.
Fake “heads” – new rope only original portions are : wooden shell, wooden cord hoops, 3 metal feet
Among the several bass drums used by the 15th Bn. (48th Highlanders) this one is unique. In France, in 1917, German shrapnel pierced this bass drum while Drummer Fraser was carrying it, wounding him in the leg. The holes where the shrapnel entered and exited the wooden shell are still visible.
