A Pair of First Field Dressings

A Field Dressing held two gauze pads and a safety pin, meant for immediate wound care in the field. The dressing was meant to stop bleeding until the casualty could reach: the regimental aid post, a casualty clearing station, or other medical facility. The bandage was held in waterproofed wrapper and carried by the soldier in a pocket sewn in the inside right skirt of his jacket.
